Not long ago, we acquired ten new warehouse locations and are serving even more solar companies in the United States. Chuck Ellis recently joined our Executive Team as the Chief Operating Officer and is leading this expansion of distribution resources.
Chuck brings a wealth of knowledge in leadership, sales, and distribution strategies from his years at SMA’s multiple American entities and in the building industry. He works closely with David Dunlap, our VP of Operations, and the rest of our order and distribution support teams.
We asked Chuck to give us a little more insight into his background and why he joined the BayWa r.e. team:
Tell us about your career in the solar industry.
I joined the solar industry in 2016 after spending most of my career in the building products and HVAC industry. My first experience was with SMA as the Director of Channel Sales. Over the past six years I made my way through the organization until I was responsible for the Americas Region. For SMA this encompassed the five subsidiaries in the Americas region: Canada, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, and Chile. Additionally, I took on the responsibility as the fiduciary and Power of Attorney for the Unites States operations and held the Chairman’s position on SMA’s Managing Board.
What excites you about being in the clean energy industry?
What excites me the most about the clean energy industry is the rapid pace at which it is changing. Clean energy is early in its life cycle and rapid adoption is just starting. Being part of that change is both exciting and rewarding.
What are you looking forward to working on at BayWa r.e.?
I like the idea of growth and the expansion and integration it requires. I would like to improve the customer experience during this phase of BayWa’s evolution.
