Earlier this month, Andrew Jones, Vice President of Sales at Pegasus. joined BayWa r.e. Solar Distribution (US) to discuss how Pegasus hardware and software products are designed to optimize solar installation pipelines. In case you missed the webinar, you can watch the full recording here or review some of key information covered during the session below.

Who is Pegasus Solar?
Headquartered in Richmond, California, Pegasus Solar provides PV solar mounting and racking solutions for installers across the United States. In its 13th year of operation, Pegasus is a business that has lived through many solar industry evolutions. Today, the company is focused not only on developing and supplying next-level solar mounting hardware, but also supporting installers with the necessary software, tools, and resources they need to run efficient project pipelines.

Hardware
Refined to provide both strength and ease-of-installation, Pegasus solar mounting products can effectively secure PV panels on shingle, tile, metal, and other roofing surfaces, with solutions for both flat and angled roofs. While the company has developed many unique hardware solutions, here are a few of the innovative Pegasus products highlighted in our recent webinar.
SkipRail: Somewhere between a rail-less and rail-based solution, Pegasus SkipRail is a hybrid racking system that offers “the best of both worlds.” SkipRail is named for its ability to help crews “skip rails” while installing panels, such as in the image below. With less rail per array than other racking methods, SkipRail can help reduce necessary roof penetrations and material costs.

InstaFlash: Now in its second evolution, the InstaFlash 2 is a versatile solar mounting solution that includes pre-installed, non-hardening sealant to instantly create watertight penetrations that fill gaps, overlaps and butt joints. The InstaFlash 2 works as a rafter or deck attach, and can be installed on wet or dry roofs in temperatures from 0° to 170°F.
Software
To support installers with limitless innovation and integration, Pegasus has developed its own system design and customer platform from scratch. Today, Pegasus software is completely customizable with many built-in admin controls and features optimized for accuracy and user experience. In addition to simplified design and proposal capabilities, Pegasus’ team of engineers have developed and implemented many helpful software elements (so far), including:
- Full Bill of Materials (BOM) with Pegasus and non-Pegasus system parts
- Plan and permit services with 24-hour (or often much faster) turnaround
- Improved systems with Scanifly integration and other API capabilities
Key Takeaways and Next Steps
Always finding ways to overcome solar industry changes, challenges, and demands, Pegasus hardware and software solutions are continuously improved by feedback loops that drive innovation and create value.
