BayWa r.e. Solar Systems is excited to announce that Harry Payne has joined the Company’s Executive Team. Harry comes to BayWa r.e. from SPI Energy, a global provider of PV solutions, but his resume spans decades of experience in the clean energy industry. Prior to joining BayWa r.e., Harry held influential roles in many well-known clean energy organizations including Solar4America, SD Renewables, Sunlight and Power, Swell Energy, SunPower, and SunRun. He also held leadership positions at Levi’s Strauss and Company, Scott’s Company, Black and Decker, and Proctor & Gamble.
Our team asked Harry to share about his career and this new transition in his own words:
BayWa r.e. Solar Systems: Tell us a little about your history in the renewable space.
Harry Payne: I started in renewables at Sunrun almost a decade ago as the Sr. Director of Channel sales and got promoted a few times. I’ve spent time with SunPower (manufacturer), Sunlight & Power (contractor) and SD Renewables (finance) in different roles as the vice president of various business units. Throughout the years, I have developed acumen in different areas of the solar industry. I am already enjoying collaborating with the other great minds on the BayWa r.e. team.
BayWa r.e.: What interests or excites you most about being in the solar industry?
HP: I love the renewable energy space because it’s the now and the future of our planet. All the good work, thoughts, and efforts from people in our industry are going in the right direction and I am grateful to be a part of it. I also enjoy the ever-changing landscape and how quickly ideas can be disrupted and implemented.
BayWa r.e.: Where do you think BayWa r.e. can make the most impact when it comes to helping solar contractors grow and succeed?
HP: I believe BayWa r.e has already positioned itself as a leading-edge distribution company that assists solar contractors and installers to grow their own business and do it profitability. There is only room to expand here.
